2. Data We Access or Collect
Account and profile data
- Name, email address, mobile number, profile photograph and login/account identifier.
- Authentication provider information when you choose Google, Facebook, Apple, email/password or mobile/OTP sign-in. Authentication credentials are processed by the selected authentication provider; NHP Bharat does not receive your Google, Facebook or Apple password.
- Reporter/author profile information, designation, coverage area and verification or compliance details when those services apply to your account.
Content and service data you provide
- Comments, reactions, bookmarks, survey responses, news tips, news or media submissions and other content you choose to provide.
- Grievance/support information and communications you submit.
- For reporter-kit requests: recipient name, shipping address, mobile number, order details and payment status.
- For authorised reporter-live use: stream title, location name, ticker text, video and audio supplied during the live session.
Device, app and usage data
- Device model/type, operating system, app version, language, IP address, app installation or device identifiers, advertising identifier where permitted, notification token and network information.
- App interactions such as pages and articles viewed, search activity inside the app, notification interactions, crash/diagnostic information and approximate engagement statistics.
Permissions and sensitive device access
- Camera and microphone: accessed only after permission is granted, for an action you initiate such as a profile/news image or authorised reporter-live broadcast.
- Photos, media, files or storage: accessed only when you select media to upload or download content for offline use, subject to Android version and permission controls.
- Location: accessed only after permission is granted where a location-based news or authorised reporting feature requires it. You may deny or revoke location access; core news reading remains available.
- Notifications: used to deliver breaking-news and service alerts when enabled.
We do not intentionally access your contacts, call logs or SMS message content. We do not use camera, microphone, photo/file or location access in the background for unrelated purposes.
3. How We Use Data
- To create and authenticate accounts, maintain profiles and provide requested app features.
- To publish and display news, comments, reporter submissions, live streams and other user-requested content.
- To personalise language, location-relevant news and notification preferences.
- To process reporter-kit orders, payments, delivery and support requests.
- To operate, diagnose, secure and improve the app, website and APIs.
- To measure audience engagement, prevent spam, duplicate/fraudulent activity, misuse and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable law and enforce our terms and editorial policies.
NHP Bharat does not sell personal or sensitive user data.
4. Sharing and Third-Party Processing
We share only the data reasonably necessary for a service with the following categories of processors or recipients:
- Google Firebase for authentication, analytics, diagnostics and push messaging; Google AdMob for advertising and consent management.
- Google, Facebook or Apple when you choose that sign-in provider.
- Razorpay for payment processing. Card, bank or UPI credentials are entered into and processed by Razorpay; NHP Bharat receives order/transaction references, amount and payment status needed to fulfil and reconcile the order.
- Hosting, content-delivery, storage and technical service providers required to operate NHP Bharat.
- YouTube and social-media services when you open embedded or linked content.
- Delivery partners, only when required to deliver a reporter kit or another requested physical item.
- Authorities or advisers when disclosure is required by law, court order, safety, fraud prevention or protection of legal rights.
Each third-party service processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not allow service providers to use NHP Bharat data for unrelated purposes on our behalf.
5. Secure Data Handling Procedures
We apply technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data:
- NHP Bharat-controlled app, website and API traffic is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
- Account requests use authentication tokens and server-side authorisation checks.
- Personal data is stored in access-controlled application databases and storage. Administrative access is restricted to authorised personnel who need it for operations, moderation, support, fulfilment, security or legal compliance.
- Passwords and payment credentials are not stored in plain text by NHP Bharat. Authentication and payment credentials are handled by the relevant secure provider.
- Production systems use access controls, logging, backups, software updates and monitoring intended to prevent unauthorised access, alteration, loss or disclosure.
- Data shared with a processor is limited to what is necessary for the requested function.
- Local app data is kept in the app's private storage where supported and is cleared when the user signs out, deletes the account, clears app data or uninstalls the app, subject to platform behaviour.
No electronic system is completely secure. If we identify a material data-security incident, we will investigate, contain it and provide notices where required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
- Account and profile data is retained while the account is active and until it is deleted or no longer needed to provide the service.
- Notification tokens are retained while notifications or the account remain active and are removed or invalidated when no longer required.
- Comments, news submissions and published editorial content may remain available while legitimately published. On account deletion, associated personal data is deleted or de-identified unless retention is required for editorial integrity, dispute prevention or law.
- Reporter-kit, payment, grievance, contract, compliance and transaction records are retained only for fulfilment, support, fraud prevention, accounting and periods required by applicable Indian law.
- Security and diagnostic logs are retained for a limited operational period and then deleted or aggregated, unless a longer period is required to investigate abuse or comply with law.
- Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 days before routine deletion.
7. Account and Data Deletion
Registered users can request deletion directly inside the app: Profile > Delete Account. Re-authentication may be required to protect the account. Users may also email nhpbharat24@gmail.com from the registered email address with the subject "NHP Bharat Account Deletion Request" and the registered mobile number or account identifier.
Verified deletion requests are normally completed within 30 days. Account/profile data, authentication linkage and non-required personal data are deleted or de-identified. Limited records may be retained where legally required, needed to complete a transaction, prevent fraud, resolve disputes or preserve legitimate published editorial records. Protected backup copies expire within the backup cycle described above.
Deleting the app from a device does not by itself delete a server account; use the in-app deletion option or contact us.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- Review or update profile information in the app.
- Withdraw optional camera, microphone, photo/file, location or notification permission through Android settings.
- Opt out of personalised advertising where the consent screen or device settings provide that choice.
- Request access, correction or deletion of personal data by contacting us.
- Object to or restrict processing where applicable law provides that right.
9. Children's Privacy
NHP Bharat is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child under 13 without appropriate parental consent. If you believe a child supplied such data, contact us and we will investigate and delete it where required.
10. External Links, Advertising and Public Content
The service may contain advertising, YouTube videos and links to third-party websites. Their data practices are governed by their own policies. Content that you intentionally submit for public publication, such as comments or authorised news submissions, may be visible to other users; do not submit personal information you do not want made public.
11. International Processing
Some service providers may process data on servers outside your state or country. Where this occurs, we use the provider under applicable contractual and legal safeguards and limit the data to what the service requires.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when our services, legal obligations or data practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised, and material changes may also be notified in the app or website.
